The year 2021 was no better than 2020. Even as we impatiently wait for it to end, 2021 has decided to bludgeon us with an arctic weather system. My computer crashed – big time- this year (thank you 2021), so I can’t always find my photos and had to search my old blogs to be certain, but didn’t we already have a snowstorm this year? Capybaras continue to grow in popularity. The babies are so adorable that almost everyone who sees them wants one. We have seen a few come into rescues, but it was always inevitable that eventually some older capybaras would languish on broker’s websites, unwanted. Where are those potential capybara owners now?
Not many people continually compare their sheep to a capybara. Membership in this club is limited. Sheep will never have the cachet of a capybara, but they are friendly, entertaining, and nearly as destructive as a capybara.

Owning a home means I can have pet ducks. Any neighborhood that doesn’t allow chickens isn’t going to want me, either. I bought a couple used ducks right after I moved into my first little house in Seattle. Hens came soon after. Thirty-five years later I still have a yard full of poultry, but they’re rescues, now.
